A Special Canada Day Celebration brought to you by Bruce County Blues!

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Bruce County Blues and The Canada Day Committee of The Town of Kincardine

presents a family friendly performance of

The 10 O'Clock Band

Municipal Flag Pole, Harbour Street

1:00 pm

Coming in July Direct from New Orleans, Bryan Lee and The Blues Power Band,

Bruce Bar and Grill, Friday, July 4, 2008

Sometimes we just get lucky when it comes to booking talented blues artists and this is certainly the case with our opportunity to bring New Orlean' blues legend, Bryan Lee to Kincardine. Bryan is on his way to the Ottawa BluesFestival in July and had an opening in his tour that made it possible for us to bring him to The Bruce Bar and Grill.

Nominee at the 2007 Blues Music Awards for "Best Contemporary Blues Album" with his new release "Katrina Was Her Name" on Justin Time Records. A bona fide New Orleans blues guitar hero and longtime staple on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, Bryan Lee is a natural born houserocker with a whole lot of soul that he brings to the bandstand night after night. Coming off a highly successful whirlwind tour with Kenny Wayne Shepherd's blues revue, and featured in Shepherd blues documentary "Ten Days Out", Lee is primed and ready to unleash his own intensely passionate brand of blues power on tour this summer. Bryan Lee is a true New Orleans name with over 30 years performing on Bourbon Street. Blind since birth, Bryan is a unique presence in the blues touring circuit.

Blues During Reunion 2008  The 2008 Reunion Committee is providing a varied mix of music entertainment during the four days of festivities and they haven't ignored the blues!. Kicking off the party on Thursday, July 31, is the Western Warm-up Party organized by our Western Chapter President, Jas Webster. This event is being held at the Pavilion and features Breakwater Blues. Unfortunately, if you weren't one of the lucky ones to scoop a ticket earlier this spring, you'll have to sit this one out as its all sold out. You can still catch Breakwater Blues and Dark Angel, both playing in the Beach Reunion Tent in the afternoon of Saturday August 2 with the blues starting at 1:00 pm. Another local favourite that will have some blues in their playlist is Reload who will be getting you dancin' in the Pavilion on Saturday afternoon starting at 1:00 pm. And if you still have money in your pocket come Monday night, The Bruce Bar and Grill is bringing Breakwater Blues to their parking lot stage. You can watch the spectacular fireworks from the Bruce patio, the best view of the harbour and then listen and dance to a spectacular reunion finale by Breakwater Blues that will feature the special line-up of  "Feet" McLeod, Robbie McLeod, "Weed" Cuyler, Greg Dechert and Mike Sloski. The Bruce will also have other entertainment throughout Reunion weekend on their special parking lot stage and we're sure there'll be a nice mix of music artists for those looking for a break from the Reunion Tent. Watch here for details or check out their website http://brucebar.com/ .

Coming Saturday, August 9, 2008  Robbie Antone and The Blues Machine Bruce Bar and Grill

The Kincardine Summer Music Festival kicks off its two week music camp on August 3d. One of the great features for us is that they provide a number of excellent musicians in concert performances with tickets available to the general public. On Saturday, August 9 they honour the blues and with the support of the Bruce County Blues Society, they are bringing in Robbie Antone and The Blues Machine. Robbie is a strong harp player who is backed by a tight 4 piece combo anchored by an awesome guitarist, Dave Wahl. Check him out on MySpace http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=169103473

“Robbie Antone has long been considered amongst the very finest blues harmonica players in central Canada, which places him in the company of some serious internationally acclaimed musicians. He is one of Southern Ontario’s hidden gems – but not for much longer! Robbie’s blues journey began as a child. Growing up on the Oneida Nation of the Thames near London, Ontario, he was exposed to a wealth of country and blues players. The blues stuck to him like glue, and in the late /80’s he emerged on the blues scene in London, appearing as a side man with many of the area’s top bluesmen on all of the “A” circuit club stages.”

Thursday August 28, 2008  The Perpetrators The Bruce Bar and Grill

From Winnipeg and on a whirlwind tour that takes them to Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto (twice), Hamilton, and Windsor, we're happy that the boys enjoyed themselves at The Bruce so much last summer, they included Kincardine in this year's trip east! This is the band who backed 'Big Dave MacLean" and broke out on their own in 2006 with a European tour capped off a Juno nomination and a win at the Western Canadian Music Awards. In 2007 the band continued to expand and grow with the release their third album, "Tow Truck" - an uncompromising expression of their varied musical influences that never loses sight of their blues roots - followed by the recording of a soon-to-be-released live album and a very successful second European tour which including the recording of live radio specials in Germany and Belgium.

"...my favourite band." - Sue Foley
